Companions
CompanionsThe concept for this painting is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time (paint elephants), so I thought why not paint two. This painting took over 35 hours to create, is incredibly detailed and is a part of the larger wildlife on black background series. The size of this painting is 40x30 in. Prints are available for purchase upon request.
Al-Quloob
Al-Quloob Al-Quloob translates to “the heart” in Arabic, which at its most basic level is a vital organ. However, even more so vital may be the emotional capacity of the heart, as it is the center for human empathy. Whether having clogged arteries or losing a sense of humanity, the heart may be healthy or diseased both literally and figuratively. In this painting, Qureshi yearns to demonstrate that dichotomy, suggesting that the true nature of the human heart is a tendency towards good. The flowers emerging from the cardiac vessels represent the heart’s desire to be righteous. Should we choose to stay true to that innate instinct, the flowers would continue to bloom and grow into something beautiful. However, should we stray towards the opposite risking a hardened heart and a loss of empathy, the flowers would shrivel and weaken over time.
A Leap of Faith
A Leap of FaithThough an obvious parallel to The Lion King in the title, this piece delves deeper by questioning the finality of life. While some may view these animals proceeding to an ominous cliff and impending doom, others might imagine them moving towards a tranquil spot among the stars in the sky.The lion leads the way, standing erect ready to face whatever may be next. So many people fear death and the lack of control. Perhaps true liberation lies in acceptance and letting go. Much like with a cliffhanger ending to a novel, the decision between fear and acceptance is ultimately a personal choice. 48x24 oil on canvas.

Heart and Mind
Heart and Mind"Heart and Mind" is an oil painting made using the “wet on wet” technique to blend together the realistic look of the brain and the symbolic image of the heart. Whether you are a person that uses logic to make decisions or someone that is driven through emotion, it is difficult to place full autonomy on one, while neglecting the other. This painting yearns to illustrates that symbiotic relationship between the heart and the mind. To many viewers, the painting looks like it’s only showcasing a brain inside the silhouette of a heart, but there is a third element. You may have heard the phrase “a gut feeling”, another element which people claim is a deciding factor in decision-making. In “Heart and Mind”, the painting gives glimpses of what looks like a maze of intestines.  36 x 48 in
